Guest Lecture by Dr Anja Herrmann-Fankhänel (Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany) as Part of the Joint Project ” Lernbrücke Chemnitz-Lviv 2025″

On November 17, 2025, Doctor Anja Herrmann-Fankhänel from Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany), invited by Marianna Kichurchak, Professor of the Department of Economy of Ukraine, delivered an online lecture on “Social Entrepreneurship” for the first-year students of the “Marketing” educational programme at the Faculty of Economics, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The guest lecture was conducted within the framework of the course “Economy of Ukraine”.
During the lecture, students acquired valuable insights into the essence of social entrepreneurship, its origins, and its significance for local development. Employing the Business Model Canvas, Doctor Anja Herrmann-Fankhänel demonstrated key approaches to developing a social entrepreneur’s value proposition, identifying target audiences, and specifying key resources and partners. She further shared her practical experience in participating in social entrepreneurial projects in Chemnitz and South Africa, which aim to address community development challenges.
The lecture was held within the framework of the joint project “Lernbrücke Chemnitz-Lviv 2025”, implemented collaboratively by Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Chemnitz University of Technology. The project is under the programme “Projects in Higher Education to Support the Educational Process in Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions through Digitalization” of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), with the support of the Harald Christ Fund for Democracy and Diversity.
Dr Anja Herrmann-Fankhänel has generously provided her presentation for inclusion on the digital learning platform of Ivan Franko National University. The lecture materials will be integrated into the “Economy of Ukraine” course to enhance students’ understanding of how entrepreneurs can act as agents of social change.
