Professor Marianna Kichurchak from the Department of Economy of Ukraine, participated in the academic event “The Legacy of Mykhailo Tuhan-Baranovsky for the Recovery of Ukraine”

On January 18, 2024, the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv) hosted hybrid academic event entitled “The Legacy of Mykhailo Tuhan-Baranovsky for the Recovery of Ukraine” The event, co-organised by the Department of Economic History of the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the NGO “Ukrainian Association of International Economists”, featured both online and offline academic readings. The academic event aimed to foster a scholarly dialogue that transcended historical perspectives, emphasizing the enduring relevance of Tuhan-Baranovsky’s insights in contributing to Ukraine’s recovery.

Within the framework of the event, Professor Marianna Kichurchak from the Department of Economy of Ukraine, participated in the thematic panel “M.Tuhan-Baranovsky’s Forecasting Ideas in the Context of Forming a Macro Model of Security of Ukraine’s Social and Economic Development”. In this panel, Professor Marianna Kichurchak delivered a presentation addressing the topic “Scientific Innovations of M.Tuhan-Baranovsky for Sustainable Development and Post-War Recovery of Ukraine’s Economy”.

During her presentation, Professor Marianna Kichurchak expounded upon the imperative of re-evaluating the academic heritage of M.Tuhan-Baranovsky in the light of the contemporary framework of Ukraine’s economic development. Particularly, she emphasised that M.Tuhan-Baranovsky in his scientific studies focused on the key components pivotal for exploring production, namely nature and human beings. Additionally, she highlighted the scientist’s extension of knowledge domain pertaining to economic phenomena and processes, advocating for the consideration of psychological factors in the realm of social development.
