On December 13, 2022, Technology University of Chemnitz (Germany) hosted the research seminar of the professor of the Department of Economy of Ukraine (Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukraine) Marianna Kichurchak on the topic “Structural changes in the information and communication sector of the EU countries: experience for Ukraine”. The event was organized within the framework of the joint project “Chemnitz Bridge-Lviv” under the DAAD programme “Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis”.

Prof. Matianna Kichurchak has evaluated the structural transformation peculiarities of the information and communication sector (ICS) in the EU countries and has determined the major directions for adaptation of this experience to the social and economic situation in Ukraine.

The speaker has proposed to define the structural changes in the ICS in the EU countries with the help of a comparative analysis of the dynamics of output (% of GDP) and employment (% of the total) in the ICTS between the EU countries and Ukraine in 2008–2022, determining the features of spatial differentiation on the basis of calculating the scope of variation, sample variance and coefficient of variation for the main social and economic indicators of ICS, identifying factors that affect output of the ICTS (% of GDP) by means of the multiple regression analysis. The features of the ICS participation in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine’s economy were described.
